If urban music is your thing, then you are gonna love seeing R&B legends Blackstreet and Dru Hill playing at the Sunset Music Festival at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. These 90’s big hitters are famed for tunes such as No Diggity and In My Bed that topped the music charts in the 90’s.
Blackstreet are Grammy winners from New York who have also featured on hit soundtracks including the Chris Rock movie CB4 as well as star collaborations with the likes of Guns n Roses guitar hero Slash, Janet Jackson, Ja Rule and the immortal Dr Dre. Dru Hill are a Baltimore collective whose band members have included Sisqo (famed for his Thong Song), Tao and Jazz, Nokio and N-Tity. They started out as a gospel band but soon added hip-hop and soul tinges to their smooth R&B sound. Their most famous tunes are their collaboration with Redman on How Deep is Your Love, Never Make a Promise and These Are The Times. This urban music festival will also have local R&B and hip-hop acts including rising stars like the UAE based, Syrian/Palestinian rapper Moh Flow who has been wowing audiences with his smooth beats and personal lyric style. Moh Flow will be joined by The Recipe, who are a cutting edge Dubai hip-hop collective. They have supported artists as diverse as Fatboy Slim, 50 Cent, De La Soul and Snoop Dogg and originated as a local project to bring talented UAE hip-hop artists together to make a mixtape. This was the first time that local hip-hop musicians came together, and they still are pushing musical boundaries and raising awareness of the diversity of UAE hip-hop.
